Killruddery House Wedding

FEATURED IN CONFETTI

When I first spoke with Katrine & Omar, I was intrigued about their plans and their Norwegian wedding traditions. This couple put their heart and soul into planning their wedding and it was a joy to capture it. From start to finish, the design, food, location, were all incredible and the sense of joy and emotion topped it all off. It will be hard to forget this wedding. Below Katrine & Omar share a little about themselves and how they planned their wedding.

Why did you choose Killruddery House & Gardens as your wedding venue?

We knew early we didn’t want a church wedding and didn’t want to take our chances with the Irish weather, so when we saw the Orangery in Killruddery we knew this was the perfect place for us. We loved the contrast between the grand glass Orangery, where the ceremony would be, and the converted Grain Store, where the dinner and party would be. The lighting in the Orangery is amazing and the space itself doesn’t need much decoration. We were allowed to decorate the Grain Store to suit our style, which was important to us.

Tell us a bit about you both

We met at a Viking pub crawl in Temple Bar back in our student days. Katrine was studying Interior Architecture and Omar was studying to become a doctor. After our studies we both got jobs in Dublin and have now been living here for about 10 years.

Tell us about your dress?

The dress is from Mikaella Bridal, a Canadian brand. I got it while on holidays in Ottawa, Omar’s hometown. I had tried on about 10 dresses before and was starting to think I wouldn't get that feeling everyone is talking about when finding THE dress.. but then I did! I love the simple design of the dress and the removable overskirt gives it the extra character and wow factor I was looking for. I had always dreamed of a dress where I could take off the skirt when the dancing started, and I was so happy when I found it.

Why did you choose Dear Oliver to film your wedding?

We fell in love with your wedding films straight away and we loved working with Dear Oliver! It was a hassle-free and smooth process from start to finish, and we didn't even notice the camera on the day. They really captured our style well and got all of our favourite moments on camera. Our wedding film is amazing and brings tears to our eyes every time!
