About The Virginia Park Lodge Wedding Venue

Located just 60 minutes drive from Dublin airport and 2 hours from Belfast airport, Virginia Park Lodge is surrounded by 800 acres of forest, providing the perfect backdrop for a quintessential countryside wedding –- an ideal location for photographers like Dasha Caffrey and Peter Carvill to work their magic. With such a stunning location, Virginia Park Lodge weddings feel just like something out of a fairytale!

Why Should You Consider It?

If elegant surroundings, exquisite food made by a Michelin-starred chef, and an in-house styling team sounds perfect, Virginia Park Lodge is the ideal venue for you! House of Hannah and Betty Williamson are two great planners to make your day flawless if you’re after extra help.

Aesthetic

Initially built in the 18th-century for the First Earl of Bective, the lodge is full of history and character. Richard Corrigan, the fourth owner and previously mentioned chef, has carried on the idea of being self-sufficient and transformed it into a warm and inviting hotel. This aesthetic makes Virginia Park Lodge wedding videography incredibly authentic and timeless!

Ceremony And Reception Locations

For an outdoor ceremony, the walled gardens or the parterre gardens are both stunning locations. Inside, you can use the Marchioness room or the lake-view pavilion — Flowers By Kim Marie and Bella Botanica could make the space spectacular! If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, there are a handful of churches close by.

The banqueting room can hold up to 90 people for an intimate wedding reception. The Pavillion can hold up to 300 people and has floor-to-ceiling windows, with incredible views over the lake!

Accommodation

There is an array of accommodation options to choose from, for up to 125 people. That means you and your guests can concentrate on what’s important — creating lifelong memories and dancing the night away without worrying about returning to a hotel.

The main house has 23 luxurious bedrooms, and there are also 15 country-styled cottages. Nestled slightly further away in the woodlands, there are 12 cosy shepherd huts and 2 cabins.

Packages

All Virginia Park Lodge wedding packages include flower arrangements from the on-site garden, canapes and cocktails, late-evening food, a bridal suite for the wedding night and other extra special touches.

They also include a four-course sit-down meal using the lodge’s homegrown produce. Your guests are bound to be blown away by the seasonal Virginia Park Lodge wedding menu created by the in-house celebrity chef!

Real Wedding

Clare and Robbie's Vibrant Virginia Park Lodge Wedding

Clare and Robbie's wedding at Virginia Park Lodge was not just an event; it was a celebration of love infused with fun and style. Virginia Park Lodge is a venue I always enjoy shooting at for its picturesque settings and the vibrant atmosphere it offers. Their wedding in May 2022 was a particularly memorable one, thanks to the couple’s unique style and the lively summer day that graced their celebration.

Introducing the Vibrant Couple

Originally from County Galway and County Down respectively, Robbie, a civil engineer, and Clare, a dentist, first crossed paths in London. Their relationship blossomed, leading them back to Ireland where they decided to settle in Belfast. As a pair, they've cultivated a life filled with adventure, evidenced by their dynamic wedding day.

A Musical Highlight

Central to Clare and Robbie's wedding day was the element of surprise and delight through music, which they prioritised to ensure a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for their guests. They chose an unconventional band, the Knights Club—an acapella roaming band based around Europe known for their interactive performances. The band made a surprise appearance during dinner, serenading guests and inviting the couple for an impromptu first dance amidst the dining setup. This spontaneous performance not only elevated the dinner experience but also perfectly transitioned the guests from dining to dancing, maintaining high energy and engagement throughout.

The ceremony was held outdoors in the parterre and walled garden, taking full advantage of the beautiful weather. It was a poignant moment as Clare, looking stunning in a dress from NEWhite, was walked down the aisle by both her parents. The setting was beautifully accented by floral arrangements in shades of white and pink, crafted by the Wild Bunch, who also styled the pavilion for dinner. The bridesmaids complemented the aesthetic with their dark green dresses, each carrying uniquely styled bouquets that enhanced the overall colour scheme.

A Day to Remember

Post-ceremony, the celebration moved to the pavilion for dinner, where the ambiance was meticulously styled by the Wild Bunch. The floral themes continued with elegant whites and pinks, and candlestick holders that added a romantic glow to the evening. Robbie stood out in a classically tailored grey suit, the details of which were the epitome of elegance.

How I Captured Their Day

Knowing that Clare and Robbie desired a fun, relaxed day free from stress, I approached my videography with a focus on capturing the natural flow of events. I stayed attuned to the couple's schedule and important moments, like the surprise band performance, ensuring these were captured vividly and authentically. My aim was to allow them to relive the spontaneous joy and the vibrant energy of their day through the wedding video.

The result was a wedding video that not only documented but also told the story of Clare and Robbie’s special day at Virginia Park Lodge. It highlighted the laughter, the dances, the unexpected moments, and the beautiful setting, all of which made their wedding truly unforgettable.

This wedding was a perfect example of how a day can unfold naturally with the right elements in place—good music, great company, and a couple whose love for each other is as vivid as their celebration. As they danced into the night, followed by an energetic DJ set, it was clear that Clare and Robbie’s wedding was not just an event but a reflection of their personalities and their journey together.
