Anita and Robert’s wedding at the iconic Castle Durrow in County Laois was a day brimming with love, joy, and a dose of rainy-day magic. Despite the drizzle that persisted throughout their celebration, the couple’s energy and warmth lit up every moment, making this autumn wedding in Ireland a true standout.  

The Couple

Anita and Robert’s love story reflects everything there is to adore about Irish weddings—family, fun, and authentic connection. Anita hails from County Cork, and Robert from Dublin. Together, they’ve lived across Ireland and recently moved to London. On their wedding day, their shared enthusiasm and zest for life transformed a grey September day into a vibrant celebration of their love.  

The Morning Excitement at Castle Durrow

The day started with Anita getting ready in Castle Durrow’s elegant bridal suite alongside her bridesmaids. Music played, champagne flowed, and the room buzzed with anticipation. Anita’s attention to detail stood out as she incorporated meaningful, sentimental touches, including a handkerchief with family significance.  

Robert and his groomsmen, meanwhile, were in equally high spirits, with Robert gifting personalised cufflinks to each of his closest friends—a heartfelt gesture that reflected his thoughtfulness. Before heading to the ceremony, the groomsmen raised a glass of whiskey, toasting to the day ahead.  

A Romantic Church Ceremony 

The couple exchanged vows at the charming Church of the Most Holy Rosary in Abbeyleix . Anita’s arrival in a vintage Mercedes driven by her father was a poignant moment, blending nostalgia and elegance.  

Inside the church, the atmosphere was heightened by a beautiful performance from a classical singer—a personal connection to the groom—adding a deeply intimate and emotional layer to the ceremony. It’s these touches that make moments feel truly one-of-a-kind.  

Rainy Day Wedding Inspiration at Castle Durrow  

Despite the rain, Anita and Robert embraced the weather with grace and good humour. The drizzle added a dreamy quality to their day, offering inspiration for other couples planning a  rainy day wedding .  

During the confetti toss, Robert lifted Anita in a playful and romantic moment that captured their fun-loving nature. The indoor portraits at Castle Durrow were equally stunning, with the castle’s timeless interiors providing the perfect setting. As a Castle Durrow wedding videographer, I was thrilled to showcase how the venue’s versatility shines in any weather.  

A Reception to Remember

The reception at Castle Durrow was styled to perfection by Frog Prince Weddings, with lush floral arrangements creating an inviting, elegant atmosphere. The ballroom glowed with warmth as guests enjoyed heartfelt speeches, shared laughter, and raised glasses of champagne in Anita’s honour—her drink of choice throughout the day.  

Later in the evening, Anita changed into a sleek silk gown by The Own Studio, transitioning effortlessly into her evening look. The relaxed elegance of her dress paired beautifully with the celebratory energy of the reception.  

A Night of Dancing and Celebration  

The Bentley Boys Band kept the dance floor alive all night, and it was clear this couple’s joy was infectious. Friends and family joined in the fun, celebrating a love story that had everyone smiling and dancing the night away.  

Anita and Robert’s ability to fully embrace every moment—even amidst the rain—created a wedding day that was uniquely theirs.
