A Night Out turned into a Lifetime Together

Kathleen and Patrick's love story began one spirited evening in 2017, in the lively neighborhood of Fells Point, Baltimore, Maryland. A chance encounter at a local bar and a few tequila shots later, they found themselves dancing the night away. Their connection was undeniable, leading to a first date the very next day and blossoming into a beautiful relationship over the summer. Fast forward to 2021, and during a birthday trip to Nashville, Tennessee, Patrick turned the tables with a spectacular proposal. In a moment straight out of a romantic movie, he got up on stage at the Kid Rock bar, called Kathleen up, and proposed in front of a cheering crowd, setting the stage for their next adventure together.

Why Ireland?

With Kathleen's Irish roots and Patrick's Scottish lineage, choosing Ireland as their wedding destination felt like a homage to their heritage. Despite the challenges of planning a wedding from abroad, the decision to celebrate at the stunning Borris House in Ireland brought both their families together in a meaningful and picturesque setting. Planning from afar was a bit like juggling teacups during a ceilidh, but thanks to a dream team of vendors, the day was nothing short of perfection.

Wedding Day Magic

The day unfolded with a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Borris, Co. Carlow, where personal touches like a bagpiper leading Patrick down the aisle and a handfasting ceremony added unique elements to their nuptials. Kathleen's mom and grandmother's wedding dresses were transformed into a handfasting cord, adding a deeply personal touch to the ceremony.

Lillie, Patrick's daughter and Kathleen’s bonus daughter, stole hearts as the adorable flower girl. The newlyweds made a grand exit in a vintage Rolls Royce, marking the beginning of their new life together with classic elegance. Their wedding day was nothing short of magical, held at the beautiful Borris House, known for its breathtaking scenery and romantic atmosphere.

Vendors Who Made it Happen

The seamless execution of the day was thanks to the meticulous planning by Waterlily Weddings, with Orla at the helm ensuring every detail was perfect. The Rosehip and Berry florist transformed the venue into a fairytale setting with stunning floral displays and elegant tablescapes. Colin Colleran captured every smile and tear. Not to forget the show-stopping cake by Jen’s Cake Boutique that had everyone coming back for seconds. Kathleen's stunning appearance was courtesy of makeup artist Rebecca O'Donovan and hairstylist Annemarie Fitzpatrick, complementing her exquisite gown from Irini's Boutique.

Kathleen's Rave Review

Post-wedding, Kathleen couldn't help but gush about their film: "Matthew, it’s incredible! We both cried watching it—You beautifully captured the magic of the day and all the love that was shared, and all the perfect details in between. I’ve watched it a million times already and will continue to for the rest of our lives! You did an amazing job with everything, and we are so lucky to have found your talent from across the world. It's like reliving the day all over again, every time we watch it. A masterpiece that’ll be treasured forever!"

Capturing the Charm

As their videographer, I ducked and dived to catch those raw, unguarded moments—like Patrick's nervous glance as Kathleen walked down the aisle, or their laughter during the slightly off-key but heartwarming family performances. My aim? To make them feel like they're starring in their own blockbuster romance—easy enough with a setting as gorgeous as Borris House.
